A nudez do guerreiro grego

Abstract

O guerreiro grego é frequentemente representado nu na arte grega, usando apenas as armas essenciais para o ataque e a defesa. Este estudo pretende analisar a relação entre a nudez masculina, própria de alguma da arte grega antiga, e as representações do guerreiro nu, tentando perceber a razão pela qual os artistas gregos optaram por representar dessa forma homens que ao mesmo tempo surgem num contexto de grande vulnerabilidade física.

In Greek Art, Greek warriors were often depicted naked, using only essential weapons for their defence and attack. This paper’s aim is to study the relationship between male nudity, as it is encountered in some Greek Art, and the representations of Greek naked warriors, trying to understand the reason why Greek artists have chosen to depict those men in such form, since at the same time they are also depicted in situations of great physical vulnerability.
