Do Liberalismo à República ou um tempo de oportunidades perdidas: para um perfil do “historiador português” de oitocentos

Abstract

No âmbito do bicentenário do nascimento de Alexandre Herculano (2010), o presente texto reflecte sobre as circunstâncias da cientificação de CLIO em Portugal, pretendendo patentear o modo como tal processo esteve pleno de descontinuidades e de insuficiências – «oportunidades perdidas», no fundo; e como, afinal, os historiadores portugueses do século XIX e de boa parte do século XX só pontualmente estiveram ligados à transmissão didáctica do seu Saber.

As part of a colloquium evocative of the bicentennial of Alexandre Herculano’s birth (2010), this text reflects on the circumstances of the CLIO scientification in Portugal, claiming to patent how this process was full of discontinuities and shortcomings – “missed opportunities” after all. And it also intends to show how Portuguese historians of the nineteenth century and much of the twentieth century only seldom have been linked to the didactic transmission of their knowledge.
