The humanist Cataldus Parisius Siculus whose pupil had been D. Jorge, bastard son of king João II, writes to D. Álvaro de Bragança whose daughter had married D. Jorge, newly appointed Duke of Coimbra. The town of Coimbra reacted unfavourably to this nomination by king Manuel. The Author thinks that the sibylline end of the letter deals with this unpleasant situation.eng
