The aim of this paper is to point out the following fact: Greek Mythology, in its chapter about heroes, makes an important effort in trying to compute time coherently reckoning by successive generations of the great Greek heroes. The background of such reckoning is the «War of Troy», the last heroic undertakirtg of mythic times. And the myth linking mythic to historical times is that of the «Return of the Heraclidae», that tries to justify the presence of Dorians in places belonging to the mythical realm of the Achaeans.eng
