(A) negociação da identidade nos grupos de auto-ajuda: o caso das famílias anónimas

Abstract

We propose an approach to the study of Families Anonymous following two intrinsically interconnected issues. On the one hand, to understand how being part of a Families Anonymous group implies a learning process and also as the disclosure of a ‘new way of life’, being the latter a process of intense identity negotiation. On the other hand, and underlying this question, we intend to show how anonymity, specifically analysed in this context and being one of the rules of this form of organisation, presents itself as a way of conceptualising the management of the information which each individual makes of him/herself in regards to others.

Propõe-se uma abordagem ao estudo das Famílias Anónimas sob duas vertentes intrinsecamente interligadas. Por um lado, compreender de que forma é que fazer-se parte de um grupo de Famílias Anónimas se apresenta como uma aprendizagem e com encontrar um “novo modo de vida”, processo este de profunda negociação identitária. Por outro lado, e subjacente a esta questão, procuraremos mostrar como o anonimato, analisado especificamente à luz deste contexto e sendo uma das regras da organização, se constitui como uma forma de conceptualizar a gestão da informação que os indivíduos fazem de si próprios face aos outros.
