Do desencanto pelas palavras e da necessidade de um léxico filosófico medieval português

Abstract

Neste artigo, apresenta-se uma breve panorâmica dos estudos lexicográfi cos aplicados à fi losofi a medieval, de M.-D. Chenu a Paul Zumthor. Procura-se, através da análise do lexema fi losofi a num texto quatrocentista português, enfatizar o interesse do estudo das palavras para a compreensão da história das ideias fi losófi cas. À semelhança da investigação realizada para várias línguas europeias, urge criar em língua portuguesa um léxico filosófico medieval.

This article presents a brief review of some lexicographic studies applied to medieval philosophy from M.-D. Chenu to Paul Zumthor. Our main purpose is to make an analysis of philosophy’s lexeme in a Portuguese text of the fi fteenth-century (Boosco Deleytoso), demonstrating the interest of some words study to understand the history of philosophical thought. Research work has been done in several European languages and it becomes an urgent need to make way for the constitution of a medieval philosophical vocabulary in Portuguese.
