| spa |
dc.description.abstract | Cato Uticensis’ suicide was in fact a foundational act for the Roman society which prompted the paradigm of any respectable voluntaria mors. In his death we find many factors and circumstances that turns him into an exemplar par excellence of the eulogos exagoge, the rational way out of life. Seneca digs deeper into this episode while exacerbating the theatrical aspects of the general’s death, which ultimately is shown as a ‘texte thêatral’ impossible to understand unless an audience renders the signification of this performance complete. | eng |
