A Museografia como ferramenta para a divulgação das geociências: a experiência do Museu da Geodiversidade (MGEO – IGEO/UFRJ)

Abstract

The Museu da Geodiversidade (Museum of Geodiversity – MGeo) was established in 2007 and, since then, seeks not only allow access to museums and memory, but the use of the university as a place to share knowledge. The museum has been working directly on diffusion of Geosciences, using, among other mechanisms, the museum’s exhibitions. This paper presents the exhibition Memórias da Terra (Memories of the Earth) staged at the MGeo (IGEO‑UFRJ), reflecting on the need of contemporary museums to expand their territory, by promoting musealisation of external areas to meet the public and to use the museography as a tool for the dissemination of Earth Sciences. Today, museums have to compete with a mass culture very well equipped with major entertainment technologies, what increase the difficulties on attracting an increasingly diverse public. But, the MGeo accepted this challenge and developed, with a multidisciplinary team engaged in disseminating geosciences, the Exhibition Memórias da Terra (Memories of the Earth), opened on September 14, 2011. The museographic proposal sought demystifies the scientific content and present the importance of geosciences through an aesthetic and interactive bias and accessible language. Thus, the MGeo seeks to make its role in the preservation and dissemination of the Geological Heritage, making an intersection between science, education and leisure.

O Museu da Geodiversidade (MGeo) foi criado em 2007 e, desde então, procura possibilitar não só o acesso a museus e à memória, mas ao uso da universidade como um local de partilha de conhecimento. O museu vem atuando diretamente na divulgação das Geociências, utilizando, dentre outros mecanismos, as exposições museológicas. Neste trabalho apresenta‑se a Exposição Memórias da Terra do Museu da Geodiversidade (IGEO–UFRJ), refletindo sobre a necessidade dos museus contemporâneos expandirem seu território, musealizando áreas externas, indo ao encontro do público e utilizando a museografia como ferramenta para a divulgação das Ciências da Terra. Hoje, os museus têm que competir com uma cultura de massa muito bem equipada com as maiores tecnologias do entretenimento, intensificando as dificuldades de atrair um público cada vez mais diversificado. O MGeo aceitou esse desafio e desenvolveu, com uma equipe multidisciplinar empenhada na divulgação geocientífica, a Exposição Memórias da Terra, inaugurada em 14 de setembro de 2011. A proposta museográfica buscou desmitificar o conteúdo científico e apresentar a importância das Geociências através de um viés estético e interativo e de uma linguagem acessível. Desta forma, o MGeo procura fazer seu papel na preservação e divulgação do Patrimônio Geológico, fazendo uma interceção entre ciência, educação e lazer.
