Património geológico da Tundavala (Huíla, Angola): uma avaliação qualitativa integrada

Abstract

This paper presents the results obtained in the qualitative assessment of the geological heritage of Tundavala (Huila, Angola), necessary to support a classification proposal of that territory, to guarantee the preservation of its integrity, as well as the promotion of geotourism activities. For the evaluation of the geological heritage of Tundavala a set of several data regarding different contents displaying heritage value has been collected and processed. These were analyzed in an integrated way, with data on the meanings attributed to Tundavala by the scientific communities (degree of relevance) and on the public perception of such meanings (abstract perceptiveness), a factor that reflects the range of social fruition of the area. The results obtained allow us to recognize in Tundavala, as an object displaying heritage value, more than one type of content – documental, symbolic and scenic – which gives it a degree of relevance with regional expression, and enhances its value as an element integrating the geological heritage of the Earth.

Neste trabalho apresentam‑se os resultados obtidos no âmbito da avaliação qualitativa do património geológico da Tundavala (Huíla, Angola), necessária para fundamentar cientificamente uma proposta de classificação daquele território, que permita garantir a preservação da sua integridade física, bem como a promoção de atividades geoturísticas. Para a avaliação do património geológico da Tundavala procedeu‑se à recolha e processamento de um conjunto de dados relativos aos diferentes conteúdos com valor patrimonial ali reconhecidos, que se analisaram, de forma integrada, com dados relativos aos significados atribuídos à Tundavala pelas comunidades científicas (grau de relevância) e à perceção pública de tais significados (perceção abstrata), variável que reflete a amplitude da fruição social do território. Os resultados obtidos permitem reconhecer na Tundavala, enquanto objeto geológico com valor patrimonial, mais do que um tipo de conteúdo – documental, simbólico e cénico –, o que lhe confere um grau de relevância com expressão regional, e reforça o seu valor enquanto elemento integrante do património geológico da Terra.
