Parque Paleontológico de São José de Itaboraí (Brasil): propostas para a preservação do patrimônio a partir das opiniões da população de Cabuçu

Abstract

For the development of geotourism is essential to involve local communities in managing the geotouristic space. In this context were held interviews with the population of the Cabuçu district, located in Itaboraí (Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil), seeking the perception they have of São José de Itaboraí Paleontological Park. In general, the participants commented that they know the park; most have already visited, but are skeptical about the project to revitalize the institution due to delays in its implementation. They believe that the site is abandoned and is lacking in attractions and infrastructure services to visitors. The population trusts that the park is important because it is a tourist attraction that can generate employment, income and infrastructure for the region and also for research and dissemination of scientific knowledge. They commented that the Cabuçu population is not involved in the preservation of the paleontological park for lack of invitations and not knowing the importance of heritage. They consider that their contribution to the preservation of the area could be carried out through the promotion and respect for the norms of the institution and believe that to improve and disseminate the paleontological park it is necessary the advancement of the local infrastructure. This study can be used in the implementation of musealization and geoconservation strategies of the geological heritage, in the adoption of measures to attend geotourism and local populations and in the development of popular education programs.

Para que ocorra o desenvolvimento do geoturismo torna‑se essencial o envolvimento das comunidades locais na gestão do espaço delimitado. Nesse contexto realizaram‑se entrevistas com a população do bairro Cabuçu, localizado no município de Itaboraí (Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil), buscando a percepção que possuem do Parque Paleontológico de São José de Itaboraí. De maneira geral, os entrevistados comentaram que conhecem o parque, a maioria já o visitou, mas estão descrentes do projeto de revitalização da instituição devido à demora na sua concretização. Consideram que o local está abandonado, sendo carente em atrativos e infraestrutura de atendimento aos visitantes. Confiam que o parque é importante por tratar‑se de um atrativo turístico que pode gerar emprego, renda e infraestrutura para a região e, também, para a pesquisa e difusão do conhecimento científico. Comentaram que a população de Cabuçu não participa da preservação do parque paleontológico por falta de convites e por não saberem a importância do patrimônio. Podem contribuir com a preservação da área por meio da divulgação e respeito às normas da instituição e acreditam que, para melhorar e divulgar o parque paleontológico, torna‑se necessário o avanço da infraestrutura do local. Este estudo possui utilização em estratégias de geoconservação e musealização do patrimônio geológico, em medidas para atender ao geoturismo e populações locais e em programas de educação popular.
