Babel e a representação do sagrado na Cidade Antiga

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss some aspects of the religious conception of the Mesopotamian civilization, through architectural representations of the sacred in that society. Our study is based on the clay record of the monumental temples in the interior of the cities. The current study analyzes the architectural representations of the sacred in the Mesopotamian civilization as one of the aspects of its religious conception. The most significant construction of the Mesopotamian architecture was the building known as ziggurat, a massive construction of raw bricks, in form of a solid pyramid, on whose top it was built a small sanctuary. Ziggurat was the linking between the sky and the earth, where all the elements of a mythical vision of the universe gathered together

Este artigo tem por objetivo discutir alguns aspectos da concepção religiosa da civilização mesopotâmica por meio das representações arquitetônicas do sagrado daquela sociedade. Nosso estudo tem por base o registro em argila dos templos monumentais no interior das cidades. O presente estudo analisa as representações arquitetônicas do sagrado na civilização mesopotâmica como um dos aspectos de sua concepção religiosa. A construção mais significativa da arquitetura mesopotâmica foi o edifício conhecido como zigurate, uma construção maciça de tijolos crus, em forma de pirâmide escalonada, em cujo topo era construído um pequeno santuário. O zigurate era a ligação entre o céu e a terra, onde se reuniam todos os elementos de uma visão mítica do Universo
