Alma humana e pluralismo de formas em Roberto Kilwardby

Abstract

O século XIII caracteriza-se pela confluência de múltiplas linhas de orientação filosófica, resultado em particular da entrada em circulação de textos aristotélicos até então desconhecidos. Um dos temas de maior consequência é, sem dúvida, a alma e a sua relação com o corpo. Este artigo analisa em detalhe a teoria do composto humano proposta por Roberto Kilwardby, teoria essa que se caracteriza pela defesa de uma pluralidade de formas substanciais compatível com a unidade da alma e da pessoa humana.

The Thirteenth Century is characterized by the crossroads of many philosophical strands which are the result, for the most part, of the socalled ‘New Aristotle’. One of the topics most discussed is, beyond doubt, the soul and its relation to the body. The present article focuses on the theory of the human composite as advocated by Robert Kilwardby. According to this theory, there is a plurality of substantial forms, which is compatible with the unity of the soul and of the human person.
