Martial's ashes - that, according to the text, are supposed to have been cast to the Tagus river, near Bilbilis - recal! some parts of the poet's life, which, after thirty four years spent in Rome, returned back to his birth place, disenchanted and missing the Urbs that had so much inspired the best of al! his poetry.
