Orestes, o matricídio e a justiça

Abstract

The matricide committed by Agamemnon’s son to revenge his father produces different developments, by Aeschylus in Oresteia, by Euripides in Iphigeneia among the Taurians and Orestes, exploring new patrons of justice in Athens during the 5th century BC, more and more concentrated on man and less on the gods. Anyway, it is clear the state of mind that disturbs the young prince after the homicide, produced by the terrifying vision if the Erinyes, or by the natural remorse in someone that disrespects social civilized norms.

O matricídio perpetrado pelo filho de Agamémnon para vingar o pai é motivo de desenvolvimentos distintos ora por Ésquilo, na Oresteia, ora por Eurípides, na Ifigénia entre os Tauros e no Orestes, reflectindo novos modelos de justiça que se foram impondo na Atenas democrática do século V a. C., cada vez mais centralizada no homem, em detrimento do divino. Em qualquer caso, é evidente o estado de distúrbio que consome o jovem príncipe após o homicídio, quer aquele resulte da visão terrífica das divinas Erínias, quer do remorso natural num indivíduo que infringe as normas de uma sociedade civilizada.
