Abstract

Com base na tradução do texto grego, propomo‑nos fazer uma leitura da ode Olímpica 2 de Píndaro – canto triunfal celebrado em honra do tirano Terão de Agrigento por sua vitória alcançada na quadriga, durante a 76ª. Olimpíada, em 476 a. C. ‑, destacando‑se‑lhe as representações post‑mortem. Com efeito, constitui a referida ode o mais antigo texto literário que enuncia a crença na distribuição de recompensas e de castigos após a morte e alude à doutrina da reencarnação, com a promessa de bem‑aventurança no além para os que se alijaram da prática de injustiças por três ciclos de existência consecutivos.

Based on the translation of the Greek text, we propose a reading of Pindar’s Olympian 2 ‑ epincian song in honor of the tyrant Theron of Acragas for his victory in the chariot during the 76th.
