Abstract

From the bright perspective that ancient Greece provides regarding senescence, this chapter focuses on funerary epigrams celebrating longevity through such positive terms as ζηλωτός or εὐθανάτως and especially εὐδαίμων, “adjective that can only be applied to those who have died at an old age”.

Desde la perspectiva luminosa que la Grecia antigua proporciona de la senectud, este capítulo se centra en los epigramas funerarios que celebran la longevidad mediante términos tan positivos como ζηλωτός o εὐθανάτως y, sobre todo, εὐδαίμων “adjetivo que sólo puede predicarse de quienes han muerto en edad avanzada”.
