Alberti e a arquitetura religiosa quinhentista na Península Ibérica

Abstract

In the Iberian Peninsula during the sixteenth century, the assimilation of the romano in architecture manifest a decorative stripping and a progressive classicism that announce the arrival of the so‑called Renaissance. Its foundations rely largely on architectural doctrines of Italic origin, in particular on those formulated by Alberti in his treatise and somehow discerned in the buildings he conceived. Thus, it is the intention of this work to investigate the reception of the Albertian doctrine in such context and its particular impact on the religious architecture of that period.

No século XVI, na Península Ibérica, a assimilação do romano na arquitetura aponta para um despojamento decorativo e um progressivo classicismo que anunciam a chegada do chamado Renascimento. Este se apoia, em grande medida, em doutrinas arquitetônicas de origem itálica; de maneira particular, naquelas formuladas por Alberti em seu tratado e, de certo modo, vislumbradas nos edifícios por ele projetados. Assim, é intenção do presente trabalho investigar a receção da doutrina albertiana em tal contexto, e sua peculiar repercussão na arquitetura religiosa do período.
