Bibliotecas Universitárias: jogos de luz e sombra

Abstract

This communication seeks to highlight the role of centrality of the university library, which has the Library of Alexandria as the archetypal identity, in teaching and research. The possibility of full access to knowledge is configured today around a new Alexandria, epicenter of a new revolution, the digital, which gives it existence in cyberspace, and whose pillars are based in the university libraries we know. In this paper we discuss how, in this play of light and shadows, conditioned by various policies that define the horizons of education and research, are also in question the conditions of access or opacity to what of the most excellent was produced by the human mind.

Procura-se nesta comunicação sublinhar o papel de centralidade da biblioteca universitária, de que a Biblioteca de Alexandria constitui o arquétipo identitário, no ensino e na investigação. A possibilidade de acesso pleno ao conhecimento configura-se em torno de uma nova Alexandria, epicentro de uma nova revolução, a digital, que lhe dá existência no ciberespaço, e cujos pilares assentam nas bibliotecas universitárias que conhecemos. Discute-se como, neste jogo de luz e sombras, condicionado por políticas várias que definem os horizontes do ensino e da investigação, se jogam também as condições de acesso, ou de opacidade, ao que de mais excelente produziu a mente humana.
