The article deals with an Arabic epigraph with historical data that has never been red although it was found in 1939. It is a clue element to date the beginnings of Lisboan alcáçova and at the same time it is an invaluable proof about the building activities during caliph Hišām II’s time. The inscription tells us about the patronage of Al-Manșūr who, being a passionate of power, undertook public buildings following the same procedure as caliphs did. This can be seen in another lapidary inscription studied in this same article, found at Fuentes de Andalucía (Seville, Spain).
