Reflexões sobre ‘Contra os retóricos’, de Sexto Empírico

Abstract

Interpretação geral de Contra os retóricos (Adv. Rhet. ou M2), do filósofo/médico cético Sexto Empírico (c. II‑III d.C.) aplicando o mecanismo da “via média”. Assim, esta obra de Sexto é abordada passo‑a‑passo, demonstrando os dois grandes movimentos refutativos que atravessam o livro: 1‑ o ataque à retórica enquanto techne e 2‑ enquanto produtora da persuasão. Finalmente, demonstramos um caso concreto de aplicação da skeptike agoge em um âmbito externo ao da filosofia.

General interpretation of Against the Rhetoricians (Adv. Rhet. Or M2), by philosopher/physician Sextus Empiricus (c. II‑III C.E.), applying the “middle way” tool. Thus, this Sextus’ work is approached step by step, showing the two great refutative movements which take place in the book: 1‑ the attack on the rhetoric as techne and 2‑ as producer of persuasion. Finally, a concrete case is shown in which the skeptike agoge is employed in an ambit outside of philosophy.
