Abstract

Even if Plutarch in his work barely deals with children and girls especially, we can clearly see, through various allusions, how girls were considered by the ancients. The author thus shows how, over the centuries, they received a more and more important level of education. Yet, for all of them (or the overwhelming majority), both in the Greek and the Roman world, the essential goal was to make a success of their marriage.
