We know that Plutarch likes quotations to make his opinions more significant. Our paper deals with citations of tragedies, in particular with lost tragedies of Euripides. We aim to ascertain the number of citations in Plutarch of Euripides’ lost tra gedies, and then whether this number is comparable to that of the quotations from existing tragedies. Finally, we’d like also to consider the way in which he uses quotations and its suitability to his texts.eng
