A questão da imortalidade da alma intelectiva individual segundo Baltasar Álvares (1598) e Francisco Soares Lusitano (1651)

Abstract

O presente artigo reune a opinião de dois filósofos portugueses dos séculos XVI e XVII, respetivamente Baltasar Álvares e Francisco Soares Lusitano, sobre o problema da fundamentação filosófica da imortalidade da alma intelectiva individual. Contém ainda um levantamento provisório do acervo manuscrito sobre a alma separada da Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra. Tem como objetivo elencar e analisar os principais argumentos e posições dos autores acerca da matéria.

This article gathers the opinion of two 16th and 17th Portuguese philosophers, respectively Baltasar Álvares and Francisco Soares Lusitano, on the problem of the philosophical foundation of the immortality of the individual intellective soul. It also covers a brief survey of the manuscript collection related to the separated soul that is extant at the General Library of the University of Coimbra. It aims to list the main arguments and positions of these authors’s work on this particular subject.
