Abstract: Plutarch, in composing the Lives of Theseus and Romulus, recognises the inevitable predominance of fiction in them, which contradicts the historical truth. But, at the same time, in order to establish the foundations of two cultures History made ‘parallel’, he accepts that it is necessary to go back to their origins.
