Portugal, especially the south of the country has paid a heavy toll for earthquakes. From 377. C. to 1755 about 350 earthquakes hit Portugal mainland and islands. Lisbon in particular and Portuga l in general were indelibly marked by these phenomena, in particular, when the November 1, 1755 at about 9 am and 30 m befell Lisbon one major and complex catastrophe, the health structures at the time responded as possible, as will be explained. If we can not, obviously, apply the current concepts in Disaster Medicine, ipsis verbis, a major disaster with a significant number of victims and various medical conditions, in particular, an earthquake like the 1755, under these circumstances, seek to establish an intervention parallelism based on current procedures.-
