Seismic events happen without any warning. When they occur, civil protection actions should be automatic and structured. Emergency planning contributes to make those actions faster and more efficient. In the Lisbon Urban Area, the Special Emergency Plan for Seismic Risk, supported by a scientific basis, represents a significant step to manage the impacts of a moderate or high magnitude earthquake.-
