O que nos faz pensar: Paul Ricoeur na Escola do Biranismo

Abstract

Working with some main features drawn from the famous dialogue between Ricoeur and Changeux, this paper begins by dealing with Ricoeur's “deliberative ethics” in view of its application in the fields of genetics and neurosciences, taken to be two major fields that pursue the old dream of “modifying the body” and displaying thought. Our goal will be to analyse Ricoeur’s denunciation of the equivocal grounds in which the connections between these dreams take shape, and also to show that this critique has one of its roots in the innovative philosophical project of Maine de Biran.

Situando‑se no contexto do célebre diálogo entre Ricoeur e Changeux, o presente trabalho assume como ponto de partida o tema da ética deliberativa ricoeuriana em vista dos âmbitos da genética e das neurociências, enquanto tais âmbitos renovam o sonho antigo de “modificação do corpo” e de manifestação integral do pensamento. É nosso objectivo analisar o modo como Ricoeur denuncia os equívocos sobre os quais se prossegue a ligação de fundo entre tais desígnios e, ao mesmo tempo, mostrar que tal crítica tem uma raiz que se encontra nos textos, a este respeito percussores, de Maine de Biran.
