A academia como comunidade em Platão

Abstract

The present essay’s aim is to characterise the academy as a community according to Plato’s thought. In order to do so, academic community is compared with human soul’s inner structure, with family, and with the city. The essay argues that the symposium, the community of friends who friendly and with openness discuss with one another while drinking wine, is the model of community upon which philosophical community is raised.

O presente ensaio procura caracterizar a academia enquanto comunidade de acordo com o pensamento de Platão. Para tal, a comunidade académica é comparada à estrutura interior da alma humana, à família e à cidade. O ensaio conclui que o banquete, a comunidade de amigos que amigável e abertamente discutem uns com os outros bebendo vinho, é o modelo de comunidade sobre a qual se constitui a comunidade filosófica.
