A influência das redes sociais na estruturação geográfica do projecto migratório

Abstract

The theory of Social Nets/Social Capital, in the framework of theoretical approaches in migration issues, is very important to explain the beginning and the consolidation of some kind of flows and destinations. The help of family and friends, established in migration destination countries, is decisive to the potential immigrant define his migratory project. Even to develop a migratory culture in some territories and communities. This study pretends to analyse the effect of a migratory network in a low density area of the Iberian Peninsula, and how it change the local landscape. And how it can be relevant to maintain and improve the presence of foreigners in such places in the case of rural areas in Portugal and Spain.

A Teoria das Redes/Capital Social, no quadro teórico das migrações, é muito importante para explicar a génese e a consolidação de determinados fluxos e destinos migratórios. O auxílio de familiares e amigos, estabelecidos no país de acolhimento, é decisivo para o potencial migrante definir o seu projeto migratório. Também para o desenvolvimento da cultura migratória no território de origem. Neste estudo pretende-se analisar o efeito de uma rede migratória numa área de baixas densidades da Península Ibérica, e como veio alterar a paisagem local. E como poderá vir a ser relevante para a manutenção de estrangeiros em locais deste tipo, sobretudo no caso de áreas rurais em Portugal e Espanha.
