Abstract: This paper describes the mechanism that has triggered a large planar landslide which occurred in the segment of the slopes between the “25 de Abril” bridge and the village of Trafaria, in Almada County. The geological and geomorphologic conditions at the site have imported to this landslide some characteristics that are different from those related to other landslides that have occurred in this zone. Along with this back analysis study, the most relevant morphological and geotechnical features involved are briefly dealt with in the paper.
