Contributo da Diamang para a avaliação dos recursos diamantíferos, em Angola

Abstract

A summary description is made of the discovery history of diamonds in Angola and on the foundation of the Companhia de Diamantes de Angola (Diamang). A review is made on the evolution of the knowledge on the diamonds in Angola together with an approach of the problematics related to the exploration work since the initial phase until the discovery of the first kimberlite. The criteria followed on the reserve classification is presented. An indication is given on the proven and probable reserves until the end of 1974, both for detrital and kimberlite deposits. A reference is made to the kimberlites studies and on their grouping as a function of knowledge and grades.

Aborda-se sumariamente a historia da descoberta dos diamantes em Angola e da fundação da Companhia de Diamantes de Angola (Diamang). Passa-se em revista a evolução do conhecimento sobre os diamantes em Angola e analisa-se a problemática dos trabalhos de prospecção desde a fase inicial até à descoberta do primeiro quimberlito. Apresenta-se o critério seguido na classificação das reservas nos jazigos. Indicam-se as reservas provadas e prováveis até final de 1974, quer para os jazigos detríticos, quer para os quimberlitos. Faz-se referência aos quimberlitos estudados e agrupam-se função do seu conhecimento e teor.
