Três ensaios de história monástica medieval portuguesa

Abstract

Neste estudo, o autor procede à análise e discussão de alguns temas relevantes da história monástica medieval portuguesa, nomeadamente, (a) a estrutura e a organização das Ordens Religiosas instaladas no território a partir da avaliação da sua produção documental; (b) a orgânica e vivência dos cónegos regrantes de Santo Agostinho no País ao tempo de Santo António de Lisboa (1190-1231), concluindo (c) por uma digressão em torno da problemática dos livros e das leituras no quotidiano de algumas dessas comunidades conventuais.

On this paper the author analyses and discusses some relevant issues concerning Portuguese Medieval monastic history, namely (a) the structure and organisation of the Religious Orders established in the territory through the assessment of documents produced; (b) the structure and lifestyle of the Augustinian canons living in the country at the time of Saint Anthony of Lisbon (1190-1231), concluding with (c) an outline of the role played by books and readings in the daily lives of some of these monastic communities.
