Abstract

The construction of the Tua Railway was inaugurated in a festive environment, with the presence of the most important people of the country, while its decline and closure is associated with the occurrence of accidents that prove its lack of safety. Thus arises the need to praise the role of the Geographer in the field of Civil Protection, which works mainly in a proactive way.

A construção da Linha do Tua foi inaugurada em ambiente de festa, com a presença dos mais importantes representantes do país, enquanto o seu declínio e fecho está associado à ocorrência de acidentes que atestam falta de segurança. Surge, assim, a necessidade de se enaltecer o papel do Geógrafo no domínio da Proteção Civil, que trabalha, sobretudo, de forma pró-ativa.
