Consciência e linguagem: acerca da crítica linguística do sujeito na 1ª metade do séc. XX

Abstract

In this Chapter, the study of some antecedents in Kant’s transcendental philosophy and Horne Tooke’s radical etymologic empiricism introduces a panoramic view upon fundamental moments in the philosophy of language in the 20th Century. Different theories of meaning are subject to a comparative study, namely: Husserl and the ideality of meaning; Wittgenstein and the language of facts; the problem of reflexivity, the foundations of philosophical hermeneutics and the etymologic thought according to Heidegger; some points about the pragmatic theory of meaning, and other general references. The comparative analysis of the different theories enables the reader to understand the theoretical place of the subject and the consequences of its critique arising from the linguistic turn of philosophy in the 20th Century.

Neste capítulo, o estudo de antecedentes, na filosofia transcendental de Kant e no empirismo etimológico radical de Horne Tooke, orienta uma panorâmica sobre alguns momentos fundamentais do pensamento filosófico sobre a linguagem no Século XX. São objecto de um estudo comparativo diferentes teorias do signifcado, nomeadamente, Husserl e a idealidade das significações, Wittgenstein e a linguagem dos factos, o problema da reflexividade, os fundamentos da hermenêutica filosófica e o pensamento etimológico segundo Heidegger, além de referências a aspetos da teoria pragmática do significado, entre outros pontos. A análise comparativa das diferentes teorias permite compreender a situação teórica do sujeito e as consequências da sua crítica ancorada na viragem linguística da filosofia no Século XX.
