Os trabalhos e os dias em terras de Lorvão nos inícios do século xx

Abstract

Este trabalho acompanha o quotidiano de um habitante da região de Lorvão que, em 1907, durante quatro meses, regista num diário pessoal ações, eventos, quase nada de emoções. Apesar de anónimo, este registo permite reconstituir parcialmente as tarefas com que se ocupa e parte da sua rede de relações sociais, onde se destacam as que se associam à Confraria das Almas. Favorece igualmente a reconstrução de um quadro social que é dominado pela agricultura, mas onde se articulam trabalho oficinal, gestão, lazer e até inovação tecnológica, recebida com a mesma sobriedade com que anota a regular cadência dos dias.

This work accompanies the everyday life of an inhabitant of Lorvão region in 1907 that, in the course of four months, recorded a personal diary of activities, events, almost no emotions. Although anonymous, this record permits reconstructing some of the tasks he embraces and part of his social network, mainly his links to the “Confraria das Almas” (Brotherhood of Souls). It also favors the reconstruction of a social framework dominated by agriculture, nonetheless articulated with workshop labor, management, leisure, and even technological innovation, described with the same sobriety he uses to annotate the regular cadence of days.
