Despite being aware of the relevance of the theme Greece/India in the context of the Indo-European question, this study examines mainly the references to India which can be found in Greek mythology, trying to relate them to the dating of the various texts that comprise the corpus of Greek mythology. Besides the obvious case of the Nonnus of Panopolis, there are several other episodes and mythological references that allude to the Indian cultural context, which suggests that, although the knowledge that the Greeks had of the region and its customs was not ethnographically correct, it was not entirely deprived of meaning. The association of Dionysos with the Indian sphere is in this sense paradigmatic.eng
