Abstract: This paper has tried to prove that the lawyer who showed several Latin translations of Greek texts written by the humanist Leonardo Bruni to Alfonso de Cartagena when he was in Portugal has to be the same person who described Vespasiano da Bisticci, and referred to Poggio Bracciolini in a letter in 1441. This letter probably was sent to Alfonso de Cartagena: he was asked to send an exact transcription of a manuscript deposited in the monastery of Alcobaça; moreover, it is assumed that this manuscript contained the full text of The Attic Nights of Aulus Gellius.
