Abstract: From screwball comedy - with a wink at King Gorboruc- Shakespeare ushers us to pre-Socratic thought. Focusing on the undercurrent of darkness, melancholy and portrait of madness of Twelfth Night, we find connections between this play, Emperor Augustus and Parmenides plus a painful common factor with Hamlet.
