Abstract

This publication includes the translation of the Plautus’ Mercator, with an introduction and footnotes. In the introduction, the most relevant elements of the play are analyzed aiming at its theoretical contextualization: the question of structure, the father/son rivalry as the central theme of the comedy; the characters; the language and the style; the comic; and the problematic chronology of the play. The study is complemented with an actualized bibliography.

Esta publicação inclui a tradução do Mercator de Plauto, acompanhada de um estudo introdutório e de notas ao texto. No estudo introdutório são analisados os elementos mais relevantes da peça para a sua contextualização teórica: a questão da estrutura; a rivalidade pai/filho, enquanto tema central da comédia; as personagens; a língua e o estilo; o cómico; e ainda a problemática da cronologia da peça. O estudo vem acompanhado de uma bibliografia atualizada.
