This paper compares the translations by humanists (comprised in Campano’s edition), Amyot and Xylander of some passages of Plutarch’s Lives where theatrical lexicon is used in a metaphorical way. With regard to theatrical terminology, different ways of translation are used: simple literal translation, literal translation accompanied by marks of the metaphorical value of theatrical words, explicitation of the metaphorical value through a non-technical lexicon.eng
