Ausónio: espetáculo dos sete sábios, vv. 1-72

Abstract

Este artigo começa por enquadrar o opúsculo de Ausónio na literatura gnómica relativa aos Sete Sábios, procurando sublinhar a originalidade do seu contributo, que decorre sobretudo da estrutura teatral adotada na composição. Na segunda parte do trabalho, apresenta-se o texto original, seguido de tradução em português e de um comentário breve às principais questões levantadas pelo passo tratado (vv. 1-72).

This article starts by analysing Ausonius’ work in connection with the gnomic literature pertaining to the tradition of the Seven Wise Men, while seeking to underline the originality of his contribution, which derives mainly from the theatrical structure adopted in the composition. In the second part of the paper it is displayed the original text, together with a Portuguese translation and a short commentary on the main questions raised by this particular passage (lines 1-72).
