Title: | La península inacabada: notas abiertas para una aproximación catalana a Iberia | Other Titles: | The unfinished peninsular: open notes for a Catalonian approach to Iberia | Authors: | Duarte Montserrat, Ángel | Issue Date: | 2010 | Publisher: | Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra | Abstract: | El objeto de este artículo es el de procurar avanzar en la comprensión de los
proporcionaba Iberia. The aim of the present article is to further the understanding of the meanings attributed to Iberia between 1850 and 1950, with particular emphasis on a category of cultural and political producers: the intellectual Catalonian milieus prior and subsequent to the outbreak of political nationalism. From these scopes explicit meanings of highly symbolic content were created and established the inevitable basis upon which several Iberian projects were fulfilled. Especially the constructs that emerged from the margins of the structures of royal power from both peninsular States, constructs that needed strong foundational myths and imaginative and imprecise horizons - both during liberalism and during the political crisis experienced in the first three decades of the twentieth century, the root of the upsurge of mass societies. That was exactly what Iberia offered them. |
