Salazarismo e Franquismo: projecto, adaptação e história

Abstract

Dois regimes políticos nascidos e consolidados na criação da ascensão internacional do fascismo, o Salazarismo e o Franquismo, regendo os destinos políticos de dois Estados periferizados pela Historia Contemporánea, que não participaram bélicamente no mais violento dos conflitos da Historia (a II Guerra Mundial), que não foram derrubados em consequência do seu desfecho, não sendo centros significativos de produção ideológica no contexto global europeu, dificilmente teriam constituído uma referência prioritária do estudo da galáxia autoritária e fascista. A historiografia e os estudos políticos que se têm dedicado à caracterização e à categorização político-ideológica destes dois regimes têm privilegiado a comparação com os modelos alemão e italiano e menosprezado paralelos mais obvios, mais reveladores e produtores de maior intelegibilidade histórica como a que aqui se propõe.

Two political regimes born of and consolidated in the international rise of fascism, Salazarism and Francoism governed the political destinies of two States marginalized by Contemporary History. Neither participated in the most violent conflict of history (the Second World War) and neither was overthrown in the aftermath of war. They were not significant centres of ideological production in the European context and would hardly be a key reference in the study of the authoritarian and fascist universe. Both the historiography and the political studies that have focused on the political and ideological characterization and categorization of these regimes have favoured the comparison with the German and Italian models. On the other hand, they have overlooked more obvious and revealing parallel examples that would result in greater historic intelligibility, which is what is proposed in the present article.
