Sofonisba: una reina de Numidia entre la historia, la literatura y el arte

Abstract

The fascinating story of the Queen of Numidia Sofonisba, in the context of the final phase of the Second Punic War, has been a source of inspiration for literature, music and painting since the fifteenth century. In this paper we present an analysis of the character’s history, from documents of classical antiquity. Meanwhile, we study the development of its presence in literature and art from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries.

La fascinante historia de la reina Sofonisba de Numidia, en el contexto de la fase final de la Segunda Guerra Púnica, ha sido desde el siglo XV una fuente de inspiración para la literatura, la música y la pintura. En el presente trabajo realizamos un análisis acerca de la historia del personaje, a partir de los documentos de la antigüedad clásica, y establecemos el desarrollo de su presencia en la literatura y en el arte de los siglos XV al XVIII.
