The figurative mosaic identified in the triclinium of the House of the Medusa, dating from the first half of the 4th century, proves to be a documentary source of particular relevance, and is a manifest reflection of enrichment, power, culture and status of the dominus, which probably belonged to the aristocracy of Abelterium. This table reflects, generally, the trend of the social elites in the Late Roman Empire, when the power of the image is particularly highlighted by the domini through the use of sumptuous decorative programs in their homes. The scene depicted shows a clear oriental influence and has similar recorded wherever by the repertoire of mosaics of the Roman Empire. This does not merely concern the implementation details, but an extreme perfectionism, evident in realism and painstaking detail, only possible thanks to unbridled mastery of pictor and the requirement, culture, refined taste and economic strength of the promoter.eng
