El relato sobre el proceso de construcción europea: anatomia de una crisis

Abstract

Durante varias generaciones se ha retratado habitualmente a la construcción europea como la historia de un éxito sin precedentes, sin embargo, en términos historiográficos, la integración europea aparece alejada de los convencionalismos de esa narrativa de posguerra y se presenta como una acción preñada de pragmatismo intergubernamental, determinada por las necesidades de unos debilitados Estados europeos, coherente con una nueva concepción de la política económica y por supuesto, condicionada por el contexto internacional. El problema reside en que el proceso de integración y la misma idea de Europa que dice representar necesitan con urgencia un nuevo relato, sin embargo su construcción es compleja en la perspectiva del trabajo del historiador.

For several generations has usually portrayed to the construction of Europe as an unprecedented success story. However, in historiographical terms, European integration appears away from the conventions of the postwar narrative is presented as an action fraught with intergovernmental pragmatism, determined by the needs of a weakened European, coherent states with a new conception of economic policy and of course, conditioned by the international context. The problem is that the process of integration and the idea of Europe claiming to represent urgently need a new story, but its construction is complex in view of the work of the historian.
