Uma abordagem estratégica das guerras e conflitos do século XX

Abstract

As capacidades dos equipamentos militares, que o acelerado desenvolvimento técnico produziu, implicaram alterações sucessivas nas tácticas e estratégias das guerras e conflitos que foram surgindo no século XX. O século começou com o fogo e a protecção a predominar sobre o movimento (guerra de posições). Seguiu-se o ressurgimento da capacidade de movimento rápido (guerra relâmpago). Depois, o fogo nuclear paralisou as próprias operações militares, durante a guerra-fria. Por fim, com o aprofundamento tecnológico nos meios multimédia, regressam os conflitos de natureza cultural, onde novos actores não estatais enfrentam os actores estatais tradicionais.

The capability of military equipments, produced by the advancing technological development, caused consecutive changes on tactical and strategic methods used during the wars and conflicts fought along the 20th Century. The 20th Century began with fire and protection prevailing over manoeuvre (static warfare). After that, there was the resurrection of capabilities of quick manoeuvring on the, so called, lightning war. Then, the nuclear fire menace blocked the military operations themselves, during the cold war. At last, the technological development of the media brought back cultural conflicts where non-state new actors face the traditional ones.
