Through the analysis of some important cuneiform sources, this brief study intends to explore the different attitudes of Nabonidus and Cyrus in relation to the cult of god Marduk. In fact, some important questions arise: What was the weight of the action of the two sovereigns in the religious domain, with the progressive distancing of Nabonidus from the clergy of the «national» god, in the fall of Babylon at the hands of a Persian dynasty? In what way did the Achaemenid monarch construct his political and religious «propaganda»? These are the questions that we intend to study in this article.eng
