Title: Uma longa guerra social: novas perspectivas para o estudo da Inquisição Portuguesa: a Inquisição de Coimbra
Other Titles: A long social war: new viewpoints towards the analysis of Portuguese Inquisition
Authors: Torres, José Veiga
Issue Date: 1986
Publisher: Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra
Abstract: After a previous work on the cyclic movements of aggressiveness of the Portuguese Inquisition from the second half of the 16th century untill the end of the 18th century, the author tries now to establish the cyclic movements that correspond, during the same period, to the activity of the Inquisition’s Court in Coimbra which had a jurisdiction over all North and Center Portugal. Using some new statistical data the author also tries to characterize the movements he found, to establish the percentages of the different types of «convicts» submited to trial in that Court and also to relate statistical variations with certain hypothesis for sociologie analysis.
