Devoção a S. João Baptista na Porta Especiosa da Sé Velha de Coimbra: (1744 a 1759)

Abstract

The present work is part of a wider plan of research dedicated to the study of the popular religiosity in the diócesis of Coimbra during the first half of the eighteenth century. The authoress studied with special care the «book that was used to register the offerings and masses which the devout offered to St. John, the Baptist, whose image still is above «Porta Especiosa». The article emphasizes the miraculous side and its cultural results taking into consideration the religious behaviour of the people.
